Keeping Yourself Safe From Elder Fraud

  • Oxford Senior Center 922 Tollgate Drive Oxford, OH, 45056 United States (map)

PART OF THE FREE SEMINAR SERIES BEING HELD AT THE OXFORD SENIOR CENTER

According to the FBI, millions of older adults in the U.S. fall victim to some type of financial fraud or confidence scheme. Older adults are often targeted because we tend to be trusting and polite. We also usually have financial savings, own a home, and have good credit—all of which make seniors attractive to scammers.

What the FBI calls “Elder Fraud” racks up more than $3 Billion in losses annually.

March’s seminar will show participants how to:

  • Identify Common Elder Fraud Schemes

  • Protect Yourself

  • How to Report

In addition to a local law enforcement expert, your seminar hosts will be on hand to work with you one-on-one so you know how to recognize

  • Social media scammers tricking you into revealing personal information online

  • Fake e-mail accounts asking you to “verify your account”

WE EXPECT A FULL HOUSE FOR THIS ONE — Registration is highly encouraged.

Also: Bring your smartphone or tablet if you would like one-on-one support from Marion & Denise.

More than 1 in 10 older people in the US fell victim to elder fraud in the last year.
